So try some of those dishes, and also experience the different flavors of Croatia’s “cuisine of the regions”, as they call it.

Just to list some of the regions; Slavonia is known for its spicy cuisine with a lot of Hungarian influence and plenty of meat and game dishes. Hrvatsko Zagorje and Medimurje are known for their strong Austrian influence, with popular sweets and dumplings. The Middle part of Croatia or the Croatian Heartland has a great assortment of home-made cheeses, thick roast dishes, and a whole lot of Ottoman influence. Istria is known for its lighter fare, using many herbs, truffle dishes, and a lot of influence from Italy. Finally, Dalmatia is also a lighter, simple Mediterranean fare influenced by Italy and it’s known as a paradise for lovers of seafood.
