Wine in Croatia

Croatian wine is similar to other European wines in that it has a long and rich history dating back to the beginning of the Roman Empire.
Throughout history Croatia was known for its rich, fruity varietals of white wine with its wineries along the Adriatic coast. But during the Croatian War for Independence in the 1990s, the vineyards were all but destroyed.
Today, the wine in Croatia has re-emerged as a powerhouse in the world wine market and the local wine industry is experiencing a renaissance. So now is a great time to travel to Croatia and taste a bit of history, once distroyed, and now thriving again in a time of peace and progress.
